Overview
Cedar Shakes and Shingles was asked to evaluate the current roof system on a large house to determine why the houses appearance did not meet the homeowners expectations. Based on our inspection it was determined that the asphalt roofing shingles were the wrong color and that the current color actually detracted from the existing stone work on the house. Because the roof was very steep and had many diverse roof lines the roof was a major factor in the overall street appeal of the house. A new dark bronze standing seam metal roof would provide both the proper color mix with the existing stone but it would also give vertical lines to a design that currently had mainly hip lines on the roof. During the new roof install new attic insulation was added along with an improved ventilation system. New 6″ seamless gutters matching the house trim color was added to both improve the drainage and to give the effect of finish crown trim on the exterior shingle siding.
