Overview
Cedar Shakes and Shingles was asked to evaluate the condition of an existing cedar shake roof and also the existing redwood siding. It was determined that the cedar roof was not repairable based on its current condition and the cost associated with making it sound. The Redwood siding was damaged on the southern exposure of the house but it was in a condition that was repairable. After looking at many roof style options, a standing seam metal roof system was picked. This would give a modern design look to the house and at the same time provide a contrast to the all Redwood siding. Damaged siding was replaced and then the entire house siding was sanded to remove the existing stain color that had been applied to the redwood siding years ago. A darker pre-painted roof color was chosen which would have the effect of giving the roof a dominant feel over the lighter colored siding. This effect would scale the house correctly based on its lot setting.
